Al Otro Lado provides free, direct legal services and humanitarian assistance to refugees, deportees and migrants in Tijuana and Southern California. 

It operates multiple programs including the Border Rights Project (legal orientation and asylum application support in Tijuana), Binational Deportee Program and welcome centers offering reintegration support, documentation aid, referrals and case management, a Family Reunification Program, US-based removal defense and affirmative immigration representation, and an Impact Litigation Program suing to overturn restrictive asylum policies.
