Second Families in San Diego surveys refugee families to determine their immediate household needs and matches donors to fulfill these needs directly. 

The agency offers programs for Afghan women, including early childhood development, parental education and stabilization, ESL classes, driving courses, and career path guidance with employment services. Youth sports activities are also provided.
