Additional Resources

This session was designed to build on the foundational concepts introduced in Motivational Interviewing 101 and deepen participants' understanding of how a motivational interviewing (MI) mindset can enhance conversations with clients and colleagues. We walked through a brief refresher of MI basics, and then explored how MI can help address common communication challenges and support client autonomy and decision-making in resettlement and ORR-eligible service settings. Participants also explored strategies for reframing resistance and recognizing client strengths in order to respond more effectively to ambivalence.
